Noise Reduction
Some cameras with slow shutter speeds (slower than 1 second) often have a noise reduction (NR) function that is automatic or can be activated in the menu. This helps remove random pixels and other image noise. It can lengthen the process because new image data has to be written along with the saved image. See also here: Ordered image.
